4 Free Ways to Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC for Backup

iPhone is wonderful to take pictures with its perfect camera performance. Also, users may save lots of images from applications such as Safari and Mail to iPhone. While get a large amount of previous photos saved in iPhone, we're very likely to encounter the situation of transferring photos from iPhone to computer, for example:

"My iPhone 6S is out of memory and in desperate need to remove all my photos. I can't just delete them as most were my family photos. Is there any way to take the pictures off my iPhone and save them on the computer?'

There are several ways to transfer photos from iPhone to PC. Emailing the photos to yourself is always an option. If you want copy multiple iPhone photos to PC quickly, your can use Windows to import the photos or sync photos via iTunes.

1.Using Email
Step 1: Tap the Photos icon on your iPhone's Home screen to launch the Photos app.
Step 2: Tap Albums, Shared, and Photos at the bottom of the interface to browse through your various photos.
Step 3: Tap the "Select" button to select multiple photos to send at one. You can send up to five pictures in one email.
Step 4: Tap the "Share" button to open up your sharing options. This will open a new message with your selected photos attached.
Step 5: Address the new email to yourself and tap the "Send" button. You can now access the email on your computer to save the attached photos.

2. Using Windows Import Utility
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB cable.
Step 2: Select "Import pictures and videos using Windows" from the AutoPlay dialog box that pops up.
Step 3: Click the "Import settings" link to set folder options, file names and other options like erasing pictures from the iPhone after import.
Step 4: Click on the "Import" button to import photos from iPhone to PC.

Note: If the AutoPlay window does not automatically appear, press the Windows Start button and select "Computer" from the Start menu. Right-click on the iPhone icon in the file browser window that opens and select "Import pictures and videos" under the Device options.

3. Using Windows Explorer 
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB cable.
Step 2: Go to the Start menu and select "Computer". Double-click on the iPhone icon under Portable devices.
Step 3: Double-click on "Internal Storage" and then the folder "DCIM" to access the pictures on the iPhone.
Step 4: Right click on the folder and select copy to transfer the entire contents of that folder to the computer.

Note: If the iPhone pictures are not showing up in Windows, please make sure the iPhone unlocked first. Besides, only photos that are taken with the iPhone's built-in camera may be imported onto the computer. Photos synced from iTunes cannot be imported.

4.Using iTunes 
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB cable it came with.
Step 2: Run iTunes and select the iPhone in Devices section of iTunes. Click the "Photos" tab.
Step 3: Click the "Sync Photos From" check box and then select an application or folder from the drop-down munu beside it.
Step 4: Click "Apply" and then click "Sync". Open the application or folder you choose to view the photos that imported from iPhone.
